With all the whirlwind activity in April, I seemed to have missed when April actually came and went!
Most of you know that baseball is a part of my life year round ~ but this time of year, it consumes me.
We have had regular little league practices and games, along with a few travel teams.
The middle guy..
He's a wall behind the plate ~ love the look he's giving the runner, daring him to try and steal the base!
The oldest..
This game he pitched all six innings..only runs scored against him were unearned, and he was awarded player of the week for this game.
A different weekend, the game he was pitching went into overtime...he pitched 7 innings..earning a no decision, as they lost in the 8th inning when the closer was pitching.
His coaches call him a workhorse on the mound (I wish sometimes he would be a workhorse when it comes to cleaning his room). This is how the other team's coach reacted after striking the third batter of the inning out...kicking the dirt in frustration..
We were lucky enough while traveling to some of these tournaments to be close enough to spend some Saturday nights with Grandma and Pappy. One night, we had a visitor.

The bear pulled down the bird feeder and was rolling it around to get the seeds out! We watched for quite some time. We realized he was coming up towards the porch, so my oldest and I decided we should go inside ~ only to find that when Grandma had gone in, she locked the door!! We banged, Pappy let us in and we had a good laugh about Grandma locking us out with the bear.
My middle guy had another big event.
He is no longer a cub scout ~ he's crossed over to Boy Scouts!
His Den worked very hard. All of the boys achieved the Arrow of Light and Super~Achiever Awards.
We couldn't be more proud!
I survived a 6th grade field trip to DC.
Of all my times in DC, this was the first time I visited the Wall.
It is a very solemn and touching place. I never grasped the sheer number of names on each panel until seeing it in person.
The boys wanted to see the Lincoln Memorial as well.
And on the way back to the buses, we spent some time at the Korean War Memorial.
The boys had a blast and we all survived!
I have the 2nd and 5th grade field trips yet to come ~ wish me luck!
There were also two spring concerts. The 5th grade band for my middle guy and the 6th grade strings for my oldest.
I think that pretty much explains why my stitching has been lax.
I managed to get my April ornament stitched ~ although I have to confess, I just finished it yesterday on May 2nd! Thanks goes to June for doing this monthly ornament with me ~ honestly, this would have been the month I would have given up if I was on my own!
I'm not sure yet what I will choose to stitch in May. But I am going to push to actually finish it in May!
Thanks to Bekca from the Stitching Lion for sending me some birthday goodies!
A sweet pattern, some fabric, lace and needles..
I plan on using the fabric and lace in the finish once this is stitched.
If you haven't run across Bekca's blog, please run over and take a look. She is a young university student in England who enjoys cooking and stitching.
Thanks Bekca, I love my goodies!!
Thanks for bearing with me on this post of very little stitching!
And with as busy as I've been, the following quote seems quite appropriate, as my brain has felt very scattered.

You have been a busy busy busy Mom! Lots of fun and memories I'm sure. And the stitching will wait till you have the time. The ornament is so pretty - and you have time before Christmas roll around. Take care and hang in there - the end of the school year is in sight!
Thanks for sharing the pics of your boys. Great memories.
Your ornament looks beautiful.
It's always fun to hear how your boys are doing and I can see they are keeping you busy! Love your ornament for April, I've got that one in mind to stitch at some point this year. With using many of the same colours as CG I'm waiting until I've finished it and then use what I've left over. Glad the bear didn't get you all!!!!
Wow, you have been super busy indeed! I love the baseball pics and I have always wanted to visit Washington DC. Great ornament finish too :)
Sounds like you're keeping up with baseball and scouts! Congratulations to the boys! How exciting to tag along on a DC field trip. I've never been and it looks so exciting. So much history and things to see in one place. Love your ornie finish! Yay!
Great pictures of your boys! I always enjoyed going on field trips with my kids. Love your April ornament - pretty!
Wow, you certainly have been busy. Great pics. Love the ornie.
You've certainly been busy. I'm surprised you even got any stitching in. The ornie is lovely.
Thanks for the picture tour. I'd love to visit Washington D.C. someday.
Hugs,
Veronica.
Great pictures, thanks for sharing all of the fun things you are doing. I haven't been to DC in such a long time, I will have to do that again.
Nice stitching on the ornie, too! :)
Ahhh, those boys are so handsome.
Cute little ornament, too.
Pam
Lovely stitching as always. I absolutely love the action shots of your boys playing baseball. We are amidst the baseball fever here as well but it has been soooo cold. I miss the lovely warm baseball weather. Have a great weekend!
Lovely stitching! Great baseball photos of your boys and congratulations on the Boy Scout cross over! I did that with my boys for years.
You certainly have a very full and happy life with your boys, and it wonderful that you are so involved with their activities. Congratulations to your cub scout, acheiving Boy Scout, and his Arrow of Light and Super~Achiever Award.
Your April ornament is very nice, and how nice of Bekca to send you such special Birthday goodies. Happy Birthday too!
Being across the pond it's so interesting to read about the lives of stitchers and their families, thanks for sharing our pics
I love your action shots Catherine. You must have a fab camera. DH and I are fed up with getting blurry shots on our iphones so I think we are going to treat ourselves to a semi-decent camera.
The stocking you've stitched is adorable. I really like these BBD stockings but the finishing of them scares me to death!
What busy, busy days these are for you and your family, Catherine! Great that they are having such success in both baseball and Scouts. Keep them busy and out of trouble, I say :)
Your stocking finish is wonderful and so are all the photos of DC... I never get tired of visiting that city :) Of course, I do have a special draw to it with my youngest living there!
Enjoy your weekend!
You have been busy Catherine. Love the photos.
Great pics of the boys: you must be so proud of them. I love the ornie too..nice colour combo.
Wow! You have been busy, Catherine! Congratulations to your son on crossing over to Boy Scouts - my son did that February of last year, and already he is a patrol leader in his pack.
Your trip to Washington sounded lovely - I love visiting Washington, but it's been a few years since I was there.
Hi
Congrats to your son!
Such a lovely post, great photos.
Your stitching is looking great too.
Awesome pics of the boys.
Your WIP is beautiful
Those are great pictures Catherine. You must be so proud of your guys. Loving your stitching and it looks like you got some more pretty gifts. Have a great week!
You take great baseball photos!! I laughed so hard when I read that Grandma locked all of you out with the bear!! LOL!!! Growing up in the country, we had bears roaming around outside a lot and one of my biggest fears was being locked outdoors. So if it was me locked out, I would've been hysterical!! I think I'll have a bear nightmare tonight (the only ones I have!)
Gorgeous stitching!! And lovely package from Becka!!
Glad to hear you survived the 6th grade field trip to DC! Looks like it was a great visit!!
My you have been busy! I love the pictures you got in Washington, its on my Bucket List of places to go... just to take pictures!
Great ornament for April!
Great pictures of your boys' sports events. They seem to keep you more than busy, no wonder that stitching has to be on the backburner, lol.
Great pics! Seems that you've been very busy!
Oh, wanted to tell you I've opened my old blog. I'd love to have you there. :)
Hi Catherine. I've just been here to visit and get caught up. All the pics of your boys and playing baseball are just wonderful! I believe the bird that nested on your front porch is a house finch..they are messy! And your ice cream cake turned out YUMMY! I am amazed you find ANY time to stitch and read blogs! Enjoy your weekend...and your beautiful family...xo Susan
