Today we loaded up the boys and headed to Longwood Gardens. I wanted to see the Orchid displays in the Conservatory before they are replaced with Easter flowers. See the wall in the back? All orchids.
And the planters on the floor? All orchids.
These next two pictures are enhanced orchids. They are white orhcids that have been altered by injecting dye into the root system while they are growing.
I can not remember what this next plant is named. It caught my eye and I had to take the pictures!
Here are a few more orchids:
There were so many sizes and colors that I was thankful to have a digial camera. I think I snapped close to 150 photos! One of my favorites is of my own flowers (well, they smell most like flowers after a good bathing!)
There has been a little stitching as well. The things I have been working on are for exchanges, and since I can't show those yet, I thought I would show an oldie that I bring out for the spring. It is a Prairie Schooler design that I stitched back in 1998.
Thoughts and prayers are going out to all those affected by the disaster in Japan. The power of nature is incredible when unleashed.
May they find the strength to heal and recover.
As always, thanks for stopping by!

Oh my! The orchid show looks great! I hope I can get there before they change the display. Good for you managing to get in a visit before ball season is in full swing. What handsome lads! I sense a bit of ornariness!
What beautiful flowers! The boys are pretty cute too. lol! Love your PS piece -- so pretty!
What stunning flowers. I love orchids. Love your oldie too lol. xx
Wonderful pictures of both the flowers and the boys!I always love a trip to a conservatory - so many different varieties that boggle the imagination. Hope you get some stitching time in this week - take care.
Orchids are such gorgeous flowers - you took some great pictures. Your little flowers are very handsome too. :o) Love the PS design, can't spring come any sooner?!
Oh, I love Longwood Gardens, Catherine... Was only there once in the fall two years ago and it poured, but even through the rain you could see how spectacular the gardens were. If I lived closer, I'd probably want to go every weekend!
Love the photo of the boys--so handsome :) And I just bought that old PS chart on Ebay. Seeing yours makes me want to start mine right away--it really is darling...
Oh my word...wish I could smell the flowers through my computer screen!
What wonderful pictures of the orchids. They're beautiful. Love the PS you bring out each spring and aren't those three handsome boys!
Wow what beautiful flowers! Lovely photo of the boys.
Love your oldie PS.
What a lovely photo of your boys! I can see why you wanted to see the orchid display, it looked lovely :)
Funnily enough I pulled out that PS chart over the weekend, got my fabric out, pulled the colors and then didn't start it! Now I see your finish it makes me want to start it :)
I've never heard of an enhanced orchid before but, wow. They are beautiful.
Your boys are too cute! That must have been a fun outing. Amazing orchids! I had a beautiful orchid that was blooming so well that I had delusions of being a horticulturalist. I was trimming off some dead shoots and managed to snap off the shoot that had all the blooms. I still cringe when I think about it.
I love that PS! There is something timeless about their designs, isn't there?
Beautiful photos - Thank you so much for sharing
CUTE picture of the boys!!!
We saw an orchid display at I think the Smithsonian a few years ago. It was amazing - such beautiful flowers. I've never seen anything like those blue ones though - those are awesome!
You know what? I've never been to Longwood Gardens. Isn't that a sin for how close we live to it? Those orchids are AMAZING. I imagine that I've missed the display by now, but I'll check into it. I would love to see them in person.
