Whirlwind!! That describes the last week or so. The end of the school year picnics, plays and loads of papers being brought home! Not to mention the end of the regular Little League season, the start of tournament play for the older two boys, baseball camp and the upcoming scout camp. And summer is just starting!!
Saturday we decided on a bit of an adventure. We took the train into Philadelphia to visit here:
The Reading Terminal Market.
What a place! The fresh foods, eateries and other vendors. If I lived in the city, I would definitely shop here. Here are some pics from inside:
We had some cheese steaks, meatball sandwiches and this:
One scoop of dark chocolate and one scoop of banana.
Then I felt like I should buy this:
Can anyone else relate? I know of at least one reader that I spoke with this week that might want one of these too!!
My oldest trying to look cool on the train.
The other two goofing off.
And see that big gaping hole? Two teeth lost this week, one while eating his meatball sandwich.
Our family day ended with this view from our front porch. The city is a great place to visit, but the country views are the ones I love best.
Father's Day began with breakfast at Cracker Barrel, followed by a visit to Longwood Gardens for a quiet walk, an old fashioned ice cream stand for a treat (yes, I just admitted that I had ice cream twice in one weekend!) and then home for family time. It was a wonderful weekend.
There has been some stitching too. I managed to get my exchange in the mail today - just in the nick of time! I can't show that yet, as this is a secret partner exchange.
I did manage to get the latest Truly Thankful edition stitched. I love this piece! We have been harvesting berries from our berry patch, so this motif is perfect!
I managed to squeeze my initials in here:
And the date over here:
And since we live near Philadelphia, I think the eagle and the Liberty Bell are wonderful!!
I'm now working on the May Flowers Truly Thankful - I got a little behind with the crazy schedule we've been keeping.
Tomorrow is the first day of summer, so I switched out my Spring PS piece for a summer one.
Aren't the colors pretty?
And who doesn't love a bunny?
I love the leathery look of this frame.
And finally, I'd like you to meet Ned. Ned the Gnome. He's our indoor gnome and he gets jealous that the others are outside in the gardens and he's stuck in the house.
He usually resides here:
Well, Ned has decided that this summer, he is taking a trip. He let me take this last picture while he was waiting patiently for the mail lady to come and give him a ride.
Stay tuned to see where he ends up and what he gets into!
Thanks for stopping by!

What a fun train trip into the city. I'm extremely jealous of the Cracker Barrel breakfast. Leaving mid week on a road trip from CA to ND. Our first CB is a few hundred miles. Can's wait to hit the gift shop. Love your stitching.

What a delightful post. That train trip sounds wonderful. Your children look like they had fun. Your stitching finishes are lovely. I wish I would finish so much. I also enjoy taking trips.
That looks like a lovely trip.
Truly Thankful looks great, so does your Summer PS piece.
That little gnome is adorable.
Gorgeous stitching. I like your new PS one too. x
It must have been an adorable trip full of enjoyment for all of you. Enjoy the summer and some summer-y stitching.
Looks like you had a great day trip! I love those family outings for sure. Your stitching is wonderful too! I'm curious to see where Ned ends up now. :D
Your visit to the Reading Terminal Market looks like a fun day, Catherine. It brought back memories of the markets we visited in Barcelona. The chocolate screw--well, I won't say what I thought that was when I first glanced at it ;o)
Your little one is so darling with that gaping hole--there is something so endearing about kids that age.
Love your Truly Thankful and of course, your summer PS is stunning--makes me want to get my chart out and start stitching (except I'm in the middle of three other projects right now!!)...
Enjoy your busy summer with the guys and Ned (I think you need a female gnome!)...
Sounds like a fantastic and fun Father's Day weekend to me. Great stitching too!
What a great trip! I love the "Screw the Diet" candy! Hehehehe!
Congrats on the Liberty Truly Thankful finish! I just love patriotic designs!
Looks like a fun trip to the city...but I agree, country sunsets can't be beat! Lucky you, breakfast at Cracker Barrell and ice cream twice all in the same weekend!! Lovely finish on thankful!
When I worked on 8th St I ate at the RTM about twice a week. Carmen's Famous was my favorite. Rick's Steaks (recently moved to Liberty Place) are the hands down best Philly cheese steak. Surprisingly, I did not eat at Bassett's as often as my propensity for ice cream would suggest. Of course, I was eating at Rick's and Carmen's! I always got my dad the peanut butter sampler from Mueller's. Now it seems like a hassle to go there. So many tourists. ;)
OH that market looks fabulous! I am loving Ned and will look forward to his summer antics. :o)
What a fun trip!! Love the photos. :)
Looks like a wonderful day out! That food looks delicious! Love your PS summer piece, great colours. Hope Ned finds the perfect spot!!!
Sounds like you had a fantastic day out! Love the photos.
Beautiful stitching :)
