Officially Done

I am officially done with summer.  This heatwave has been horrible and we are in need of some nice soaking rains.  If we could trade our weather, I think I would have some takers in the UK where they seem to have found all the rain.

The little league baseball season is officially done for my boys.  The middle guy's team finished after three tournament games.  Here he is catching.  I love the dust coming off his glove as the ball goes in!
The oldest guy's team lost in the District Championship game, the first time in three years.  Disappointing, especially since they played so hard, at 12:00, with a temp of 102 and a heat index of about 110.
And for the little guy, there's always the cotton candy while cheering for his brothers.
I'm so proud of all of my boy's accomplishments this season.
But never fear ~ there is still baseball ~ on to training and more tournaments with travel teams!!!

Officially done is my June ornament.  I will confess, it was finished on July 1st, but it's done.  I'm still on track ~ although, I will still have to find time to have a finishing day...
This is a freebie from Carol at iStitch.  If you click the link, you'll go to her blog.  From there, click on the charts icon in the sidebar.  At the bottom of the list of charts, you'll see the link for her freebies.
This was a quick one to stitch and reminded me of a vintage postcard.

I also did some more on this Heartstring Samplery piece, which will be a gift for a non~stitchy friend.
I finished up the border this evening ~ and phew, it lined up!  That is always a good feeling.  Now I just have to stitch the second house and find a frame.

So, in hoping for a break in the heat and some much needed rain, I will leave you with these words that I would love to hear!
“Tut, Tut, looks like rain”
― A.A. Milne

I can't believe that the boys had to play in the extreme heat. Glad they all did well. Nice piece for your friend.

Oh I hope Pooh is right - we could certainly use some rain, but all we got so far was thunder. You and your boys are real troupers dealing with the heat! I like the little Christmas piece, it does look like a vintage postcard - very pretty!

Beautiful stitching, love the colours.
I think we have had all your rain and you our sunshine,
we did have a nice day yesterday but they say we have more rain this week !
Tell the boys well done, it must have been hard in that heat. hugs.

Good things your sons are so young as they seem to withstand so much more than us. I am sorry it is so hot. I wish you could come sit and stitch with me in the garden. It is rainy and I sit happily crocheting an afghan in the cool. Oh what fun we would have!

England is being hit far too hard and flooding is happening again. It is really bad for them this year.

Great ornament! I am making very special ornaments this year but keeping it under wraps until I get the first one done.

Your is going to love her sweet little sampler!

I was going around saying that Pooh quote since we are getting lots of rain. In our case, I am not trying to fool the bees...it really does look like rain. :-)

Hugs from Holland ~

I can't believe that the kids can play in this heat like they do. I am glad that you are getting a little break though. I wish my son would play some sort of sport, but he is definitely not interested at this point of his life. One day maybe when he is a little older.

Love the design you chose for your ornament. I am way behind on my ornaments. Maybe I can play catch up once summer break is over. Have a great day!

So glad the boys survived playing in the extreme heat. They will remember this summer.
Your ornament does look like a vintage postcard. Lovely.
Now I am singing "And the rain, rain, rain came down, down, down!" ;)

You may officially be done with summer, but I doubt that summer is done with us! Glad the ball season is finished, though, so the boys don't have to play in this heat anymore.

I made that same Christmas greeting for a friend last year and (ahem) didn't get it finished, so it looks like we'll be doing this one together!

Have a great day - and stay cool!

Hi Catherine, congratulations to your boys on their baseball season ... great pictures of them!

Your June ornament is lovely!

I don't mind the heat, but the lack of rain is becoming a problem for many. Cooler temps this week in western PA but still no rain.

Oh gosh, playing in this hot weather must not have been fun! Yay for the boys though on finishing their baseball season. Such talented kids! Love your Christmas ornie finish. The piece you're stitching for your friend is wonderful too!

Oh, I can't imagine playing ball in that heat, Catherine--or even worse, sitting in the stands and watching them!! How did you manage to not pass out of heat exhaustion? I'm sure the guys are looking forward to more ball this summer--sure hope the heat doesn't return.

Congratulations on finishing your monthly ornament--I am SO far behind (back on, um... April's!!). Nice gift for your friend as well.

Enjoy this cooler weather now!!

Your ornament is lovely - I haven't stitched one ornament this year.

I bet you and your sons are glad that the season is over - it can't be that much fun watching (or playing) in that kind of heat!

I can't imagine doing anything in that heat, not even sitting outside. Playing baseball? Yeesh. They are troopers for sure!!!
Hope it cools off soon!!!!!!!!!!

You are done with summer and ours hasn't even started yet! Oh what I wouldn't do to feel the sun on my face!
The freebie you stitched from istitch is lovely - I'll have to look that one up.
Isn't it a great feeling when a border meets up?! Lol.
I hope Panzer is managing to keep cool in that heat! I bet there is a lot of panting going on.

You are so proud of your boys! Howcwill you keep them busy now?

I am very impressed with you, keeping up with your stitching.I would be so sadly behind. I never was very good at keeping a stitchy schedule like that.
Great job!

Yeah for you keeping with your ornaments! I really like the June one you did too:)

Thanks for sharing nice pics of your boys. I can't imagine playing ball or sitting in the stands watching during the heat wave. I'm SO ready for FALL and cooler weather with LOTS of rain!

How did your boys play in that intense heat? They are amazing and you must be so proud of them. Your youngest boy reminds me of ours when he attended his brothers' soccer and track meets. He loved watching on the sidelines and was always so cute.

'Christmas Greetings' is beautiful, and right now, thinking of the cool season of Christmas is perfect! "Heartstring Samplery" piece is wonderful, all stitched in cool soft blue.
