Happy Valentine's Day! I hope all of you had a wonderful day with those you hold near and dear.
Can you see the hearts in the rocks from my garden?
This past week or so has been very busy. We celebrated the birthday of our oldest ~ he's a dozen years old now! Wow, where did that time go?
His cake request this year was my home~made chocolate cake with home~made icing. Yummy! Oh, but first we had to have a dinner fit for a preteen....
Yep...that would be potato skins and Filet Mignon. All washed down with Coca~Cola.
This past week and weekend brought baseball practices, baseball scrimmages, Little League tryouts, and a visit from Grandma and Pappy....phew....
Mother Nature also brought us another round of snow and cold winds!
The snow is all gone now, but so pretty while it lasted!
As you can imagine, not much stitching was going on. Just enough to finish the Humility Sampler from Heartsting Samplery.
I really enjoyed working on this one.
Now I need to get working on my ornament for February!
I received my exchange package from the Stitched With Love Friendship and Love Exchange. We are supposed to wait until everyone has their goodies to share, so that will be for another day. I can say that I love what was stitched for me and all the extras!
What I can share, are two pieces that were stitched by my mom years ago. I framed them for her this past weekend so she could take them home ~ although, they would have looked just fine in my house too!
And here's the other one:
I don't have the names of the samplers, or the details on fabric and threads. Mom doesn't keep track of those things, sorry!
Edited to add info about the above sampler in the gold frame:
The second sampler of your Mother's that you showed appeared in Sampler & Antique Needlework Quarterly the first hardcover book. It is called Frances Jewkes Sampler after the little girl who stitched it long ago. Starts on page 34. Maria S.
Thanks Maria for sharing that information!
The craziness will continue this week with the Blue & Gold Scout Dinner and more baseball!
Until next time...

Happy belated birthday to your son! The years go by so fast, don't they? Just wait till he turns 13. lol! Love your finish -- very beautiful! And how nice of you to frame those samplers for your mom! Does she still stitch? That's so nice that you share a passion for stitching! They're both beautiful pieces, and the frames are so pretty too! Good luck with all the busyness. Your boys always keep you running!
Happy belated birthday to your son! Congratulations on the finish, and the framing! How neat that you and your mom share the same passion for needle & thread.
A dozen years...WOW! His dinner looks scrumptious.
Please keep the snow up your way.
Your mom's samplers are gorgeous. You frame so well too.
Every time I see that sampler from Heartstring Samplery I really want to pick up the chart but visions of my stash keep me from doing it. I don't think I can resist much longer!
What linen did you use for it and did you use all the recommended threads?
Congrats on your finish!
Your mom's samplers are beautiful!! That was so nice of you to frame the for her!
Your Mum's samplers are beautiful I would love to know the designers and chart names. If you find out please post.
Happy Birthday to your DS.
I should comment as Nikki here because it would be three versions of Nicole in a row! Anyway, love your humility sampler. Your framing came out perfectly--just like your mom's stitching.
It is alway a little hard seeing our litle ones grow up.
Love your sampler and your mom's.

Happy Birthday to your son....your birthday dinner looks like it was fit for a young prince!
Oh, the snow is so beautiful. How I wish that we had a nice blanket of snow. It has been a very "spring like" winter here, with almost no snow.
Love your 'Humility Sampler"...the verse is wonderful. Your Mother's samplers are beautiful too.
Sounds like a fun birthday to me! Your mom's samplers are gorgeous and you did a fabulous job with the framing. Loving the "love" rocks too. :o)
Happy belated birthday to your son. We didn't get the last snow that you got. Crazy weather! Both you and your mom do beautiful work. You did a great job on the framing too.
Oh, boy, your last year before you have a teenager in the house, Catherine!! Hard to believe, isn't it? Happy 12th birthday to your young man :)
And what a great dinner--I haven't had potato skins in years--they look amazing.
Our snow is still on the ground, but hopefully it will be all gone soon. We got the same snow and that was enough for the winter :)
Lovely sampler finish and your mom's work is equally lovely. I can see where you got your talent!!
Happy belated birthday to your son! The stitching is beautiful and those potato skins look really yummy! Snow here also and more this weekend. Right now it is clear though. So ready for winter to be over.

Wishing your son a happy birthday! That dinner looks pretty tasty. :)
Your Humility Sampler is just beautiful and the samplers your mom stitched are so pretty! It must be nice to have someone in the family that shares your interest in stitching. :)
Happy belated birthday to your son! I want to come to your house to eat that yummy dinner and cake afterwards. :-)
Love your humility sampler! Great job and beautiful colors too.
