Today is Leap Day!
Is this my favorite day? No. I don't like having only one favorite. My favorite days are those where I am able to spend time with needle and thread, where something related to the craft touches my day.
I've had some favorites lately.
June sent me a wonderful package that arrived the other day. I had commented on a linen towel that she shared on her blog and soon after, she let me know that it was headed my way. What she didn't tell me was that there was more!
Isn't this the perfect towel for spring! (Excuse the wrinkles, I have to iron this yet.)
Three of my spring favorites...lambs, bunnies and birds.
There were some fun goodies ~ a chart, note cards and little nail files. And three cards with the sweetest notes!
June made this card. Just look at the detail! I will use this in a summertime display!
The final item in the package really surprised me!
Simply beautiful!
I love the chocolaty brown color and the mother-of-pearl thread rings!
Thank you June!!
Maybe I need to start a basket of chocolaty colored smalls...hhhmmmm....
June is also my partner in the grand scheme to stitch one ornament a month. Even though the month flew by, I managed to get the stitching done.
I have the fabric that I think will be used to finish the back. I may decide to go with a smaller print fabric. What do you think, is the print too large?
Do you think it works?
I am going to wait on the finishing, as I have chosen to do the last stocking from the booklet for my March ornament. I will finish them both together, hopefully by the end of March!
Another favorite day brought more surprise mail. My partner from the last Stitched With Love Exchange, Tricia, sent me a thank~you. I'm so glad she loved her exchange goodies, and certainly wasn't expecting such a wonderful surprise.
I just love this blue fabric!
And the front. I love this santa and the light he is holding!
Then there was the card, handmade by Tricia! Such a sweet little sheep!
Thanks so much Tricia.
Finally, one more favorite day brought me this.
The blue flowers remind me of the forget-me-nots I have in my garden, replanted from my grandmother's garden.
Pink tulips are another favorite.
Look in the square ~ my initials!
Such soft, beautiful colors!
This was stitched, for me, by my mother. Her initials are just to the right of the year. Believe it or not, this is the first thing that she has ever stitched specifically for me! I will treasure it always.
I love you mom!
I hope it is easy to see why I don't have just one favorite day! With that, I'll leave you with this quote and the wish that your life be full of many favorite days....
“What day is it?"
It's today," squeaked Piglet.
My favorite day," said Pooh.”

Wonderful gifties from your friends! i love the sampler that your mom made for you. What a treasure.
No wonder you have so many favorite days. What beautiful things.
The sampler your mom made is indeed an heirloom. How beautiful and special.
Beautiful gifts indeed. Those two handmade cards are just precious. The pillows are sweet too.
Wonderful job on stitching the stocking ornament. I think the red fabric would go well for it even though only the prints would only show partially. I like the fact that it matches the red and sort of echoes the star design on the top right of the design.
The sampler your mum has stitched for you is gorgeous and a treasure to be passed down for generations to be sure.
Hugs,
Veronica.
Wonderful things! Blessings, Shirlee

Oh my! Such lovely gifts! And how lovely that your mom stitched that piece for you! It's wonderful! Congrats on finishing your Feb. ornie. I like that backing fabric myself -- it'll be on the back after all, right? :D And the towel -- soooo pretty!!! I love that quote from Pooh. Such a wise old bear.
Great gifts. Is't the stitching world the best?! Yes it goes on the fabric choice-At least from way down here in Alabama:)
Two lovely packages from Tricia and June.
I say go with the fabric you've chosen for your ornie - the colours complement it beautifully.
The sampler your mum has stitched you is fabulous - definitely one to pass down through the generations.
Love your gifts. Lucky you to have a sampler stitched by your mom just for you!
Oh, I'll bet you were absolutely tickled and touched to get a sampler stitched especially for you from your mother, Catherine--it is just beautiful! As are the goodies from dear June--she is just the sweetest, isn't she? I've been lucky enough to receive two of her tiny handmade cards and I treasure them. And I love your little Santa pillow from Tricia, too--so pretty on that blue fabric...
Hope March brings you more "favorite" days :)
What a treasure from your mom! Know it makes you feel special! Lucky you to receive so many great gifts! Love your stocking ornament! If it was me I would go with a smaller print but if you like the fabric then that's all that counts!
Fantastic leap mail packages you received.
You are so lucky to have something stitched by your mom. It is beautiful!
The fabric looks great. It's the front that matters, lol
Have a great March
Lovely gifts! I really like the little handmade card.
What a beautifully stitched sampler from your mother! Definitely a treasure.
My goodness your mail carrier has been busy! Aren't stitchy friends the bestest? They all are very sweet gifts and I love those handmade cards too!
What day is today?
I went through the day (up until around 6pm) thinking today was Friday.
*sigh*
It is nice to have a kindred spirit. I am not complete if my day has not been spent with needle and thread so every day is a favorite day. :-)
Wonderful gifts and I love your stitching. I am so wanting to start a sampler right now but need to get a few UFOs finished first.
I think the fabric is perfect for your ornament backing. We often think we need to go really small with these things but sometimes a larger print makes the right impact. The colors in that fabric are just right.
Hugs from Holland ~

Oh my, what lovely gifts!
Thank you so much for the birthday wishes!
Lovely gifts you received. Enjoy them :)

Gorgeous gifts you received Catherine! June's chocolatey pillow is scrumptious! I love the thread rings!! That sampler you mother made you is so pretty and soft. What a treasure!!
Just love what your mother stitched for you and the wonderful gifts. :)
I think the backing fabric is fine. The colors are pretty and the pattern seems to fit the snowflakes on the front really well.
So many lovely gifties that you received. Enjoy everything.
I just love the stocking that you stitched and I think that fabric would go nicely as backing fabric. I really love the BBD stockings and want to get started on them this year, or mybe next year, lol.
You received some lovely gifts, that is for sure. The sampler done by you mother is so beautiful. I always cherish things that my mother makes for me as well. Having such things around always reminds me of her love.
I think your fabric choice will work just fine. Can't wait to see how you finish it.
What lovely gifts and beautiful stitcheries! I like the backing fabric, don't think it is too big at all. How nice to have something special from your mom! It was a great day!
Cathy
How fantastic! You must be loving your mailman lately ;o)
June and Tricia did a beautiful job on the ornaments. The gift from your mom definitely would be something to cherish!
Beautiful gifts and that sampler stitched by your Mum is gorgeous.
Oh my goodness!! What a bunch of wonderful goodies throughout this post. I just love the sampler that your mother made for you--how special!
I think the backing fabric works for the stocking. I'll be honest and say that I don't give mine much thought. Sometimes I use linen but I've also used quilt fabric scraps.
Came back for another visit - By the way - the gift from your mother is gorgeous !!!!!
What a lovely post! The gifts are just beautiful. I too think the towel is perfect for spring. Love the bunnies! I have a house rabbit that has taken over our hearts :)
Isn't it always fun to receive surprises in the mail! How wonderful the sampler your Mom stitched. That is so touching that she would do something that special for you. You are blessed indeed.
Thank you for stopping over at my blog, meant so much! I am going to become a follower of yours..I just love it! :)
